About
Meet Marilea
Marilea Brock has been helping children, teens and young adults use communication to connect and relate for more than 13 years. Her passion helping young people use both verbal and nonverbal communication to connect with others began working with children and teens with autism spectrum disorders and has continued to grow to other populations including anxiety, language-based learning disabilities, expressive and receptive communication disorders, and executive function disorders.
Prior to opening CCNW, Marilea served as the director of social communication programs at a private clinic in San Diego and facilitated social communication and social thinking groups.
Marilea believes speech and language therapy should be functional, engaging and a part of real life. She is an expert at Legos, cheating at UNO and building train tracks in therapy!
Marilea has extensive experience in SCERTS (Prizant, Wetherby, et al), DIR/Floortime, and Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking Curriculum.
In 2009-2012, Marilea received a grant from the National Foundation for Autism Research (NFAR) to help teens and young adults with ASD and related disorders improve social and functional communication skills in the workplace. She has twice presented at the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) national convention as well as many local and regional organizations.

Marilea received a Master of Science degree in speech & communication disorders from the University of Oregon. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas where she learned to appreciate Texas BBQ, college football and good music.
When not in the office, you’ll find Marilea volunteering for organizations supporting women and children as a proud member of the Junior League of Portland, especially the Children’s Book Bank. In her free time, she enjoys being with her husband and VERY active twin boys.
